Stephen R. Conlin

Stephen is widely recognized for his valuable combination of expertise in both the health care and high technology fields. His clients include companies that provide health care services, medical device companies, companies involved in health information technology, and software and other technology companies. For almost 30 years, Stephen has been assisting clients with complex business transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, affiliations and other combinations, joint ventures and various types of financing transactions, including angel and venture capital financings and tax-exempt financings. In addition, he participates in a wide range of technology and licensing transactions, particularly with respect to software, medical technology and health information technology, and advises on general business matters including business start-up, corporate governance, and equity and other incentive compensation.

Stephen most recently served as Vice President and General Counsel of Covenant Health, a health system with hospitals, nursing homes and other facilities throughout New England. Prior to that, he practiced as a principal with Archstone Law Group (and its predecessor, Van Wert, Zimmer & Conlin) for more than 20 years. Stephen started his legal career at the Boston firms of Goodwin Procter and Hale and Dorr. Stephen is a graduate of Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Suffolk University Law School where he was Executive Editor of the Suffolk University Law Review, and has completed graduate studies at Boston University School of Public Health. Prior to attending law school, Stephen held various management and policy positions in the private and public sectors.

When not at his desk, Stephen enjoys hiking and backpacking throughout the White Mountains of New Hampshire. After leaving Covenant Health and prior to starting Conlin Legal, Stephen took a break from his legal career and hiked the Appalachian Trail, traveling 2,180 miles from Georgia to Maine from March through September 2016.
